The zeolite synthesis will be conducted via hydrothermal method1 which is a well established technique. The?characterization of the prepared materials?will be performed employing X-ray powder?diffraction, dynamic light scattering and electron microscopy. The toxicity test will be performed according to the standardised protocol?OECD (2013) Guidlines for the Testing of Chemicals. In: Test No. 236: Fish Embryo Acute Toxicity (FET) Test. The main risk factor in zeolite synthesis is the inability to perform the experiment due to lack of needed chemicals or problems with the oven. In the?characterisation part the risk comes from the possibility that a certain instrument is broken or requires maintenance so the analyses could be postponed. The toxicity test depends on the generation?of the zebrafish embryos?so the main challenge here is keeping the zebrafish healthy and capable to reproduce.
The data concerning zeolite characterization should provide rather straightforward information on the composition, size and shape of the crystals. The toxicity test will comprise following several parameters of the embryo?development (heart beat rate, pigmentation, hatching). The collected?data will be statistically analysed and compared to the non treated control.?
